This aluminium thermostat housing replaces the fragile plastic thermostat housing of the BMW M50 and M52 6-cylinder engines in the E34, E36, E39 and Z3. The original plastic housing is one of the best-known weak spots of these engines: it becomes brittle from the heat, cracks at the flange and leaks coolant, often at the worst possible moment.

Fitting and delivery

Drain some of the coolant, remove the old housing with the thermostat, clean the gasket surface on the cylinder head and fit the aluminium housing with the new gasket and the thermostat. Take the opportunity to replace the thermostat and the O-ring as well. Refill and bleed the system. Allow about an hour of work. The product is in stock and ships immediately.
