The AST Bolt-in Roll Cage BMW E30 Touring AWD V3 is a full roll cage for the all-wheel-drive BMW 3 Series (E30) with 5-door Touring bodywork, the 325iX. This Bolt-in E30 Touring AWD V3 builds on the V2 and adds door bars that shield the occupants from the side.

The cage is designed and built by AST Roll Cages in Spain, for drivers of an all-wheel-drive E30 Touring who take part in competition and regard side protection as a hard requirement.

Fitting and delivery

The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. The six foot plates are welded to the bodyshell and the cage is then bolted onto them. When preparing the car, bear in mind the door cards and window mechanisms, as the door bars run close to them. AST digitises the bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D, so that it fits your car exactly.

With door bars added, the 325iX Touring becomes a genuine competition car, as the driver is now enclosed in a closed structure at the sides as well.

Many organisers regard the Bolt-in E30 Touring AWD V3 as the minimum level, because side protection carries a lot of weight in track and rally use. For a 325iX, it is also one of the few ready-made options, as an RWD cage does not match the different floor. Here, the main hoop, front bars and door bars work together as a single rigid structure.

Can I still use my door cards?

The door bars take up space in the door, so the original door card usually no longer fits completely. Many drivers opt for slim panels or a map pocket.

Does the cage really fit my car exactly?

AST scans the bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D based on that data, so the foot plates and tubes end up in the right place and little adjustment work remains.
