The MTS Street A6 C4 quattro Inox is a height-adjustable weld-in insert kit (coilover) from MTS Technik for the Audi A6 C4 / 100 C3/C4 / 200 C3 / V8 with four-wheel drive (quattro), model years 1982 to 1998. Street is the standard setup from MTS Technik: a good balance between comfort and firmness.

On the Inox version, the damper bodies are made of stainless steel, so road salt and moisture don’t stand a chance. This is a weld-in insert kit: the original front struts are shortened and welded.

Fitting and delivery

To fit the MTS Street A6 C4 quattro Inox, the original front struts are shortened and welded as described in the manual. Have this done by an experienced mechanic or welder.

• The stated lowering applies relative to the standard suspension. If the car has a factory sport suspension, the lowering will be smaller.
• When fitting, check the clearance between tyre or wheel and the strut: at least 5 mm. If it is less, use approved wheel spacers.
• The adjustment range may differ depending on the version of the car, the lowering and the accuracy of the welding work on the suspension.
• After fitting the MTS Street A6 C4 quattro Inox, have the wheel alignment checked, because camber and toe change as well.

Does this kit also fit a version without four-wheel drive?

No. The MTS Street A6 C4 quattro Inox is made for the four-wheel-drive (quattro) versions. MTS Technik has separate kits for the front-wheel drive versions.

What is the difference between Gold and Inox?

Gold has steel damper bodies with a yellow zinc coating, Inox has stainless steel damper bodies. Inox is more resistant to road salt and moisture and therefore costs more. Otherwise, the kits are identical.

Do the struts really have to be welded?

Yes. With this weld-in insert kit, your original struts are shortened and welded as described in the manual. If you don’t want to weld yourself, check whether a send-in kit exists for your car: with that, MTS Technik does the welding.
