AST Bolt-in Roll Cage BMW E30 Coupé AWD V3

The AST Bolt-in Roll Cage BMW E30 Coupé AWD V3 is a full roll cage for the all-wheel-drive BMW E30 (the 325iX) with 2-door coupé bodywork. This Bolt-in E30 Coupé AWD V3 includes everything from the V2 and adds door bars in both doors, the point at which the cage also starts protecting the driver from the side. Please note: this is specifically the AWD version, intended for the 325iX and not for the rear-wheel-drive E30.

The cage is designed and built by AST Roll Cages in Spain, for 325iX drivers who compete in events where door bars are often already mandatory under the regulations.

Fitting and delivery

The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. The six foot plates are welded to the bodyshell and the cage is then bolted onto those plates. The door bars run through the door area, so the door card and often the original trim have to make way. AST digitises the bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D, so that it fits your car exactly.

With door bars in both doors, the AWD V3 is the first version that genuinely shields the driver of a 325iX in a side impact as well.

Why choose this Bolt-in E30 Coupé AWD V3 roll cage?

Side impacts are the most common scenario in drifting, rallying and track use, and a cage without door bars offers little protection there. The V3 closes that gap and makes the frame more torsionally rigid, because the front section, sides and main hoop form one continuous structure. For many competition classes, this is the level at which you can line up at the start without modifications.

Exactly which E30 is this cage intended for?

The Bolt-in E30 Coupé AWD V3 is made for the all-wheel-drive E30, the 325iX, with 2-door coupé bodywork. If you drive a rear-wheel-drive E30, you need the RWD version; the two are not interchangeable.

Can I keep my original door cards?

Usually not entirely. The door bars run through the space occupied by the original panel, so expect modified or replacement panels on the driver’s and passenger’s side.
