The big brake kit F20 from V-Maxx gives your BMW 1 Series F20 or F21 a fully fledged performance brake system on the front axle: 330 mm two-piece brake discs, 4-piston calipers made of forged aluminium and V-Maxx sport brake pads, complete with the adapters you need.

An F20 or F21 with 70 to 175 kW is a great basis for track days and circuit days, but the standard brakes heat up quickly under repeated hard braking. With this kit you keep a firm pedal and the braking performance stays consistent for much longer.

V-Maxx Autosport is a Dutch manufacturer and supplies this kit with a TÜV certificate according to §19.3. This means you are also allowed to drive on public roads with it.

This kit is not intended for the M135i and M140i (235 to 250 kW); for those there are the 355 and 365 mm kits with 6-piston calipers, which are also available for versions from 70 to 175 kW with factory-fitted M Sport brakes. Minimum wheel size for this kit: 17 inch. Always check with the fitment template (WFC, Wheel Fitment Chart) whether your wheels clear the caliper; a wheel spacer is sometimes required.

Fitting and delivery

Install the big brake kit F20 according to the V-Maxx fitting instructions; brakes are a safety-critical part. Suitable for cars with original steering knuckles. Clean the kit with mild soap and never use wheel cleaner, as it attacks the aluminium. For intensive track use, V-Maxx recommends removing the dust seals from the calipers.

You can extend the kit with a different caliper colour (black, blue or yellow at extra cost), V-Maxx Steelflex steel braided brake hoses (PTFE inner hose, with TÜV approval), Ferodo Super Formula brake fluid (500 ml), a V-Maxx wear indicator set and an extra set of Ferodo FDSR216 DS Performance brake pads, which have no TÜV approval. Delivery time: 4 to 7 days.

Why choose this big brake kit F20?

The difference lies mainly in heat management. Aluminium conducts heat about five times better than steel, and on this big brake kit F20 the caliper, bracket and bell are all made of aluminium. Together with the directional cooling channels in the disc, which draw the heat outwards, the brake kit cools down much faster than a standard system. As a result, you can brake hard more often in a row without the pedal changing. You also get a complete kit with TÜV approval, without having to source separate parts.

Which version do I need for my F20 or F21?

This 330 mm kit fits all F20 and F21 versions from 70 to 175 kW. For the M135i and M140i (235 to 250 kW), choose the 355 or 365 mm kit; these are also available for versions from 70 to 175 kW with factory-fitted M Sport brakes. Without M Sport brakes, this 330 mm kit is the right one.

Does the big brake kit F20 fit behind my wheels?

For the big brake kit F20 you need wheels of at least 17 inch. Whether your wheel fits also depends on the wheel design; check this with the fitment template (WFC) before you order. A wheel spacer is sometimes required.

Is it normal for the brake pads to click?

Yes, that is how it should be. The pads deliberately have 1 to 1.5 mm of play so they do not seize at high temperatures. As a result, you hear a short click when you change between driving forwards and reversing.

Which options can I order with it?

You can choose a different caliper colour and extend the kit with Steelflex steel braided brake hoses, Ferodo Super Formula brake fluid, a wear indicator set or Ferodo DS Performance brake pads (without TÜV).
