The MTS Street E39 Touring Gold is a height-adjustable coilover kit from MTS Technik for the BMW E39 Touring, model years 1996 to 2004. Street is the standard setup from MTS Technik: a good balance between comfort and firmness, for daily use and the occasional track day or drift day.

On the Gold version, the steel parts have a yellow zinc coating and the aluminium parts are black anodised.

Note: not suitable for versions with four-wheel drive (4×4). Only for cars without EDC (electronic damping control). Axle load: maximum 1095 kg front and maximum 1410 kg rear; check your car’s vehicle type plate.

You set the rear ride height with the supplied adjustable rods.

Fitting and delivery

The MTS Street E39 Touring Gold replaces the original dampers and springs and fits on the original mounting points.

• The stated lowering applies relative to the standard suspension. If the car has a factory sport suspension, the lowering will be smaller.
• When fitting, check the clearance between tyre or wheel and the strut: at least 5 mm. If it is less, use approved wheel spacers.
• Cars with EDC and/or a V8 engine require additional original parts for the front axle: 2x strut bearing (31336752735), 2x ring (31336776760), 2x sealing ring (31331110196).
• After lowering, have the wheel alignment checked, because camber and toe change as well.

Does this kit also fit a four-wheel-drive (4×4) version?

No. The MTS Street E39 Touring Gold is made for the rear-wheel-drive versions.

What is the difference between Gold and Inox?

Gold has steel damper bodies with a yellow zinc coating, Inox has stainless steel damper bodies. Inox is more resistant to road salt and moisture and therefore costs more. Otherwise, the kits are identical.

Is this kit suitable for a car with level control?

Yes. This kit is intended for cars with level control (NIVO). You set the rear ride height with the supplied adjustable rods.
