The BC Racing BR coilover kit E36 Compact True Rear (part number I-79-BR-RH) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW 3 Series E36 Compact (E36/5), model years 1994 to 2000, in True Rear version. The spring rate is 5 kg/mm front and 5 kg/mm rear.

It is BC Racing’s all-round kit, with a complete strut at the rear. From the factory, and also with the standard BR kit, the Compact has a separate spring and a separate damper at the rear, mounted apart from each other in the suspension. With True Rear, these are replaced by a complete coilover strut, with the spring around the damper.

The advantage: you set the rear ride height in the same way as at the front, directly on the strut and independently of the spring preload. The BR series works with monotube dampers and a linear piston: comfortable enough to drive every day, firm enough for a track day or autocross. Pillowball top mounts are included with each system, and on suitable kits camber plates front and rear are possible.

The spring rate of this True Rear kit is 5/5 kg/mm. You adjust the damping in 30 clicks, compression and rebound together, and the ride height is fully adjustable.

Fitting and delivery

The kit is vehicle-specific and replaces the original dampers and springs: at the front you replace the struts; at the rear the separate spring and damper are removed and replaced by a coilover strut. Please note: BC Racing requires the body shell to be reinforced before fitting a True Rear kit. We recommend having it fitted by an experienced mechanic and then having the wheel alignment set, because camber and toe change along with the height. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. If the kit is temporarily out of stock, you can still order and we will keep you informed.
