The big brake kit i20 GB 290 mm from V-Maxx is a complete front brake kit for the Hyundai i20 (GB/IB) from model years 10-2014 to 08-2020. You get 290 mm two-piece, grooved brake discs and forged aluminium 4-piston calipers, complete with V-Maxx sport brake pads with TÜV approval and vehicle-specific adapters.

This version is the compact variant of the two V-Maxx kits for the i20 GB. With a minimum wheel size of 15 inch, it fits behind smaller wheels than the 330 mm kit, while you still get the benefits of a full big brake kit: more braking power, a firm pedal and much less fade under repeated hard braking.

V-Maxx Autosport is a Dutch manufacturer and supplies the kit with a 2-year warranty. The TÜV certificate according to §19.3 means the kit is approved for use on public roads.

Fitting and delivery

Fit the kit according to the V-Maxx fitting instructions supplied. The big brake kit i20 GB 290 mm is only suitable for an i20 with original steering knuckles. Use mild soap for cleaning and no wheel cleaner, as it attacks the aluminium. For heavy track use, V-Maxx advises removing the dust seals from the calipers.

You can complement the kit with V-Maxx Steelflex steel braided brake hoses for the front axle (500 mm, set of 2) with PTFE inner hose and TÜV approval, Ferodo brake fluid (500 ml) and a V-Maxx wear indicator set. Delivery time: 4 to 7 days.

The 290 mm version brings V-Maxx braking power to the i20 (GB/IB) and fits wheels from as small as 15 inch.

For the i20 GB, V-Maxx also has kit 20 HY330 07 with 330 mm discs. It requires wheels of at least 17 inch. The big brake kit i20 GB 290 mm with part number 20 HY290 07 fits wheels from 15 inch. In both cases, check the clearance with the fitment template (WFC).

Is the big brake kit i20 GB 290 mm suitable for a car with more power than standard?

Yes, definitely. A Hyundai i20 with more power than standard benefits most from this kit: 290 mm discs and 4-piston calipers give more braking power and much less fade. The kW limits in the application list refer to the original factory output, and with an officially approved power upgrade the TÜV approval remains valid.

Does V-Maxx also have a kit for the rear axle?

No, V-Maxx only makes kits for the front axle. About 90% of the braking power comes from the front axle.
