Description
Sparco battery master switch FIA 6-pole (main switch, 100A)
The Sparco FIA battery master switch is the mechanical main switch that is mandatory at virtually every competition. A quarter turn of the lever and the car’s entire electrical system goes dead: battery, alternator, ignition and fuel pump all off in one go.
That is not a luxury but a matter of safety. In a crash or fire, the marshal must be able to cut the car’s power without having to climb into the cabin, and without the fuel pump continuing to run.
This version has six poles, so besides the main current it also correctly interrupts the alternator’s charging current and the ignition circuit. Suitable for 6 to 24V systems with a maximum of 100A. Sparco makes it in Italy under part number 01337.

Fitting and delivery
Allow one to two hours of work. The switch goes in the main cable between the positive battery terminal and the starter motor, with the alternator’s charging cable on the small poles. Mount the switch in a spot that both the belted-in driver and a marshal outside the car can reach, usually at the base of the A-pillar or on the centre tunnel panel.
If you also want to operate it from outside, choose the 1.60 m pull cable for a short route, or the 3.60 m one if the cable has to run through the cabin to the other side of the car. Most organisers require the FIA sticker set with the red lightning bolt next to the switch and the extinguisher. Delivery time 4 to 7 days.
The switch you never use is the switch the marshal reaches for when you no longer can.
Why choose this battery master switch?
Cheap main switches from the boating world look the same but often have only two poles, so the alternator keeps feeding the engine after you have switched off. That is exactly what the regulations aim to prevent. This Sparco has six poles, meets the FIA standards and is rated for 100A, so you pass scrutineering without any discussion.
Frequently asked questions
Is this battery master switch mandatory at competitions?
A battery master switch is mandatory at virtually all circuit, drift and rally competitions. This Sparco FIA battery master switch meets that requirement.
Why six poles and not two?
With six poles, besides the main current you also interrupt the alternator’s charging current and the ignition circuit. With a two-pole switch, the engine can keep running on the alternator.
Can I operate it from outside the car?
Yes, with the optional 1.60 m or 3.60 m pull cable you add a second operating point outside the car, usually by the A-pillar.
Does it work on a 24V system?
Yes, the switch is suitable for 6 to 24V systems with a maximum of 100A.
