Installation and delivery

The splitter is mounted against the underside of the front bumper. No mounting hardware or fitting instructions are specified. In practice, you first hold it in place so that it lines up evenly left and right, and then mark the mounting points. Drill the holes neatly in the lower edge of the bumper and secure the splitter with your own bolts, washers and lock nuts. Use wide washers on the bumper side so that the plastic does not crack.

After fitting, you can paint an aluminium E46 front bumper splitter in the colour of the car or leave it matt black, whatever suits your project. In that case, degrease the aluminium thoroughly and use an adhesion primer for aluminium before painting.

Watch out for speed bumps and high kerbs: a splitter sticks out at the front and sits low. On a lowered car it is wise to check the mounting again after the first few drives.
