The Sparco 4.25 litre fire suppression system is a complete plumbed-in extinguishing system for cars competing under FIA regulations. Instead of a separate hand-held fire extinguisher that you first have to grab when a fire breaks out, this system delivers the extinguishant through fixed lines to the engine bay and the cabin.

The cylinder is made of stainless steel, CE-approved and tested at over 40 bar. The system is activated mechanically via a pull cable, so it still works when the battery has already been disconnected or the electrics have failed. That is exactly why scrutineers like to see this type of system.

The box contains everything you need: the bottle with 4.25 litres of AFFF, the brackets, the lines, the couplings, the nozzles and the matching stickers. Nothing extra to buy, just fit it.

Fitting and delivery

Allow half a day for a neat installation. The bottle must be bolted firmly to the chassis or the floor pan, not to sheet metal alone. Route the lines so that one nozzle discharges into the engine bay and one or two into the cabin, aimed towards the driver. Place the pull handle within reach of the belted-in driver and fit the second handle outside the car, usually by the A-pillar. Apply the FIA stickers next to both handles. Delivery time 4 to 7 days.

You only reach for a hand-held extinguisher once you’ve unbuckled. A plumbed-in system puts out the fire while you’re still strapped into your harness.
