The Strongflex 031929BX is the black version of the polyurethane gearbox mount 031929B with a motorsport hardness of 80ShA. It is technically identical to the standard version, but made from black polyurethane for anyone who wants an inconspicuous finish under the car. It fits almost all rear-wheel-drive BMWs, from the E21 and E30 to the F30, Z4 and the Toyota Supra DB, and replaces the original rubber mount with OE numbers 22316799331, 22322282340, 22316799330, 22316796617, 22316796619, 22316875904 and 22312284819.

The original rubber mount flexes under hard acceleration and clutch kicks, causing the gearbox to move, the gear lever to jump and power to be lost. The polyurethane version holds the gearbox firmly in place: more direct power transfer to the wheels and a tighter shift feel. Because the mount is harder than rubber, it transmits more vibration to the body; it is therefore intended for motorsport use.

Strongflex polyurethane is resistant to oil, heat and road salt and lasts many times longer than rubber. Assembly grease is included.

Fitting and delivery

Support the gearbox with a jack, lower the gearbox crossmember and swap the mounts; replace them in pairs. Use the supplied grease and tighten the bolts to the specified torque. Allow half an hour of work. Note: not suitable for 4×4 versions (xi, xd, xDrive, except those listed above) or for diesel engines. No, except for the xDrive versions explicitly listed. Diesel engines are excluded.

Does polyurethane cause more vibration?

Yes, the 80ShA motorsport version transmits more vibration than rubber. This is noticeable in road use.
