Lightweight Aluminium FIA Bucket Seat Mount

This aluminium bucket seat mount consists of two light side brackets with which you fit a bucket seat in your car. The brackets are made of 6 mm thick aluminium and weigh about 800 grams each. They are produced according to FIA Appendix J and intended for motorsport and track cars.

If you are building a car in which every kilo counts, such as a drift car, rally car or time attack car, you do not want heavy steel brackets under your seat. With this aluminium bucket seat mount you keep the weight down, while the seat stays firmly in place.

Installation and delivery

You bolt the brackets to both sides of the bucket seat and then fix them to the floor, the seat rails or a seat platform. With the holes in the brackets you choose the height and the angle of the seat. Use bolts of a good strength grade with washers, so that the load is spread well over the aluminium, and check after tightening that the seat cannot move anywhere.

If you drive a BMW E30, E36 or E46, you can combine the brackets with an aluminium seat platform. That lets you also move the seat forwards, backwards and sideways, so that you sit exactly behind the steering wheel.
