The AST Bolt-in Roll Cage BMW E34 Touring V2 is a full roll cage for the BMW 5 Series E34 with 5-door Touring bodywork. This Bolt-in E34 Touring V2 is the V1 supplemented with front reinforcement bars that extend to the bulkhead, making the front section of the car considerably more rigid.

The cage is designed and built by AST Roll Cages in Spain for drivers who are looking for a gain in torsional rigidity as well as safety, and who want their E34 Touring to steer more sharply.

Fitting and delivery

The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. Schedule the fitting together with any work on the bulkhead, as the front bars extend into that area and the six foot plates are welded to the bodyshell. Have this welding carried out by a specialist fitter.

The V2 carries the gains of the V1 forward: extra bars towards the bulkhead make the E34 Touring audibly and noticeably tighter.

The step from V1 to V2 lies entirely in the front end. Whereas the basic cage mainly protects the occupants, the V2 ties the main structure through to the bulkhead and thus to the most heavily loaded part of the bodyshell. AST digitises the bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D, so that these bars follow the existing contours precisely.

What is the difference from the V1?

The Bolt-in E34 Touring V2 has the same main hoop with backstays as the V1, but adds front reinforcement bars to the bulkhead. This provides extra rigidity in the front section of the car.

How reliable is the fit?

AST scans the bodyshell of the E34 Touring with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D based on that data. The cage is made for the five-door Touring; a saloon cage will not fit.
