The AST Removable Half Roll Cage BMW E36 Compact V2 is a half roll cage for the BMW E36 with 3-door Compact bodywork. This Half Compact V2 protects the rear compartment only, is mounted at 4 points and has extra reinforcement bars compared with the V1. The structure is split into sections that are joined together via connecting sleeves, so the cage can be fitted in the car and taken out again.

The cage is designed and built by AST Roll Cages in Spain, for drivers who want a little more tubing in the rear than the basic version offers.

Fitting and delivery

The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. AST digitises the bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D, so that it fits your car exactly. Fit the main sections to the 4 mounting points first, and only then add the extra reinforcement bars.

Why choose this Half Compact V2 roll cage?

This version is the step up from the V1 without going straight to a full cage. The rear compartment gets extra reinforcement bars, while the cage remains mounted at 4 points and can simply be taken out of the car again via the connecting sleeves.

What is the difference from the V1?

The Half Compact V2 has extra reinforcement bars compared with the V1. Otherwise the concept is the same: a half roll cage that protects the rear compartment and is mounted at 4 points.

Does this cage also protect the front of the car?

No. This version protects the rear compartment only. The full-cage versions are designed for protection along the full length of the car.

What material is the cage made of?

The main hoop is made of E355 steel with a diameter of 45 mm; the rest of the structure is E355 steel with a diameter of 40 mm. The four foot plates are 3 mm thick and custom-designed for each car.

What if my car has a sunroof or headlining?

When ordering, please state whether your car has a sunroof and whether the headlining will stay in place, and AST will tailor the roll cage accordingly.

What is the delivery time?
