The AST Removable Half Roll Cage BMW E81 V2 is a half roll cage for the BMW 1 Series E81 with three-door hatchback bodywork. This removable half cage E81 V2 is more extensively built than the V1, giving the rear compartment of the E81 more rigidity and better load distribution.

The cage is designed and built by AST Roll Cages in Spain, for drivers who spend more time on track than on the road and want to take their E81 further step by step without going straight to a full cage.

Fitting and delivery

The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. Plan the welding of the four foot plates in advance, as they are welded to the floor of the bodyshell before the cage is bolted on. AST digitises the bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D, so that it fits your car exactly.

More rigidity than the V1, with the same advantage: the cage comes out just as easily via the connecting sleeves.

What is the difference from the V1?

The V1 is the bare basic version with the main hoop and braces. The removable half cage E81 V2 is more extensively built and therefore gives more rigidity in the rear compartment. Both sit on four welded foot plates and are removable.

Does this cage also fit a five-door E87?

No. This cage is based on a laser scan of the three-door E81. The five-door E87 and the E82 coupé have a different bodyshell, and AST designs a separate version for them.
