AST Removable Half Roll Cage BMW F87 Coupé V2

The AST Removable Half Roll Cage BMW F87 Coupé V2 is a half roll cage for the BMW 2 Series F87 with 2-door coupé bodywork. This removable half cage F87 Coupé V2 builds on the V1 and adds a more extensive set of bars, while the construction remains removable via connecting sleeves.

The cage is designed and built by AST Roll Cages in Spain, for M2 drivers who want more structure in the rear than the basic version offers, without going straight to a full roll cage.

Fitting and delivery

The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. The four foot plates are welded to the bodyshell and only then is the cage bolted onto them, so plan the initial fitting at a workshop with welding capability. AST digitises the bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D, so it fits your car exactly.

The V2 gives you the extra bracing of a heavier cage, with the freedom to take it out again.

Why choose this removable half cage F87 Coupé V2?

If you take your M2 on track regularly, you will soon find that a basic hoop reaches its limits. This version adds more tubing in the rear compartment and with it more torsional rigidity around the rear suspension, without making the car unusable on the road. It keeps the same removable layout as the V1, just more heavily equipped.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference from the V1?

The removable half cage F87 Coupé V2 has a more extensive set of bars than the V1. Both sit on the same four welded foot plates and both can be removed via connecting sleeves; the V2 simply adds more structure in the rear compartment.

Does this cage also fit a convertible or the newer G87?

No. This product is designed exclusively for the two-door coupé version of the F87. AST does not offer a convertible version for this model, and the G87 that succeeds the F87 has its own cage, which is not interchangeable.

Is there an FIA homologation?

The manufacturer does not state a homologation number for this product. The cage is intended for track and competition use; always check the regulations of your own organiser before entering the car in an event.

What if my car has a sunroof or headlining?

When ordering, please state whether your car has a sunroof and whether the headlining will stay in place, and AST will tailor the roll cage accordingly.

Where is the cage anchored at the rear?

You choose this yourself when ordering: in the rear suspension area or in the boot area. AST designs the foot plates and tube lengths for the chosen area.
