Description
AST Weld-in Roll Cage BMW E30 Coupé AWD V2
The AST Weld-in Roll Cage BMW E30 Coupé AWD V2 is a full roll cage for the BMW E30 with 2-door coupé bodywork. This Weld-in E30 Coupé AWD V2 is made for the all-wheel-drive E30, the 325iX, and does not fit the rear-wheel-drive E30, as that car has a different floor and tunnel. Compared with the V1, this version gains front reinforcement bars that run through to the bulkhead.
The cage is designed and built by AST Roll Cages in Spain, for 325iX drivers who want more torsional rigidity in the front of the car than a bare main hoop can offer.
Key benefits
- Front reinforcement bars link the main hoop to the bulkhead and tie the whole cabin together.
- Noticeably stiffer front axle, which makes the car calmer on turn-in.
- Eight welded mounting points spread the load across the bodyshell of the 325iX.
- Built around all-wheel drive: custom-made for the AWD floor, not for the RWD version.
- E355 steel, 45 mm main hoop and 40 mm for the other tubes.
- Unpainted weld-in kit with 3 mm gussets and reinforcement plates.
- 71 kg (manufacturer’s figure), a logical intermediate step in the range.

Fitting and delivery
The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. Book the welding in with a professional and bear in mind that the dashboard and trim have to come out before the front bars can go in. AST digitises the bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D, so that it fits your car exactly.
With the front bars running to the bulkhead, the V2 becomes a frame rather than a hoop.
Why choose this Weld-in E30 Coupé AWD V2 roll cage?
The step from V1 to V2 is in the front of the car. By extending the bars through to the bulkhead, the bodyshell gains an extra triangle that absorbs the torsion between the front axle and the cabin. For a 325iX that sees regular track time, this is the first upgrade you will genuinely feel through the steering.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference from the V1?
The V1 is limited to the main hoop with braces. The Weld-in E30 Coupé AWD V2 adds front reinforcement bars running to the bulkhead, so the cage brings the front section of the cabin into the structure.
Can I weld this cage into a rear-wheel-drive E30?
No, that is not possible. This version has been measured on the all-wheel-drive E30 (325iX). The bodyshell of the rear-wheel-drive E30 differs at the floor and around the tunnel, so the welded mounting points and reinforcement plates will not line up.
What is the delivery time?
