Description

AST Weld-in Roll Cage BMW F87 Coupé V5 NASCAR door

The AST Weld-in Roll Cage BMW F87 Coupé V5 NASCAR Door Bars is a full roll cage for the BMW 2 Series F87 with two-door coupé bodywork. This Weld-in F87 Coupé V5 NASCAR is the most comprehensive set of bars AST offers for the M2, welded in at eight points, with several curved tubes per door instead of the standard door bar.

The cage is designed and built by AST Roll Cages in Spain for M2 drivers who are turning their car into a dedicated track or drift car and want the maximum in structure and side protection.

Key benefits

  • Complete set of bars, the highest specification in the weld-in family for the F87.
  • NASCAR door bar design with several curved tubes per door to better absorb a side impact.
  • Extra room to get in to an already tight coupé, as the tubes are curved outwards.
  • V design rear structure, the layout AST uses at the rear for this model.
  • Eight welded mounting points for a permanent, play-free connection to the bodyshell.
  • E355 steel tubing, main hoop 45 mm and the rest of the structure 40 mm.
  • Complete weld-in kit with gussets, reinforcement plates, mounting hardware, documentation, fitting instructions and a sticker set.

Fitting and delivery

The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. The interior has to come out completely and the door cards must be modified to accommodate the curved tubes; have the welding done by someone experienced in bodywork. AST digitises the bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D, so that it fits your car exactly.

AST’s full set of bars in an M2, with door tubes that protect you without blocking your way in.

Why choose this Weld-in F87 Coupé V5 NASCAR roll cage?

The M2 has a rigid bodyshell from the factory, but as soon as you run it on slicks or on a drift track, the forces rise beyond what the manufacturer intended. The V5’s complete set of bars anchors those forces between the bulkhead, the roof and the rear suspension area, while the curved NASCAR tubes cover the sides. In a compact coupé, that is the only way to combine maximum protection with an entry that remains practical.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between V4 and V5 on this cage?

In addition to the main hoop and the front bars, the V4 has an extra diagonal brace and a harness bar. The Weld-in F87 Coupé V5 NASCAR goes further with the complete set of bars, making the structure denser and more rigid.

What does a V design rear structure mean?

It is the layout AST uses at the rear of this cage: the tubes run in a V towards the rear anchorage points. For the F87 coupé, this layout is fixed and there is no choice between X and V.

Does this cage fit a G87 or an M2 Convertible?

No. This is a cage for the two-door F87 coupé. AST does not offer a convertible version for this model, and its successor, the G87, has its own cage, which is not interchangeable.

Is this roll cage FIA-homologated?

AST does not list a homologation number for this part number. The cage is intended for track and competition use; always check the regulations of your own organiser before you enter.

What is the delivery time?

The standard delivery time for this roll cage is 15 to 35 working days.
