The AST Weld-in Roll Cage BMW G87 Coupé V5 is a full roll cage for the BMW 2 Series G87 with 2-door coupé bodywork. This Weld-in G87 Coupé V5 is the highest-specified weld-in version in the range: the complete bar package, permanently welded to the bodyshell at eight points.

The cage is designed and built by AST Roll Cages in Spain, for drivers who want to get the most out of the structure and are building their G87 into a full competition car.

The G87 is a compact, rear-wheel-drive two-door. AST does not supply a convertible version for this model. The F87 is its predecessor, with its own cage that is not interchangeable with the G87 version.

Fitting and delivery

The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. AST digitises the bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D, so it fits your car exactly. With the V5, the interior of the G87 has to come out completely; expect the most fitting hours of the entire range. The car is modern and full of electronics and airbags, so plan the installation carefully, disconnect the battery and protect the wiring before any welding equipment is used. This cage is intended for track and competition use; check the regulations of your own sporting organisation before you start the build.

What is the difference between the V4 and the V5?

The V4 has door bars, front reinforcement bars and an extra diagonal bar and harness bar. The Weld-in G87 Coupé V5 goes one step further with the complete bar package, making it the highest specification level in this range.

Does this cage also fit an F87 or a convertible?

No. AST does not supply a convertible version for the G87, and the F87 is the predecessor with its own, non-interchangeable cage.

How much space is left in the interior?

With the complete set of bars, the G87 is in practice a competition car: expect the rear seats and most of the interior trim to come out. AST does not specify internal dimensions; have your fitter take measurements in advance with your seats and steering position.
