The BC Racing ER coilover kit Skyline R34 rear eye (part number D-72-ER) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the Nissan Skyline R34 GTS and GT-t with rear-wheel drive (ER34) and a rear eye mounting of the rear dampers, model years 1998 to 2001. The spring rate is 8 kg/mm front and 5 kg/mm rear.

The ER series is intended for serious track and competition use. The big difference from the BR and DS: you set compression and rebound independently of each other, each in 30 clicks. For this, BC Racing uses a monotube with a double piston and an external reservoir, filled with fully synthetic oil with a very high viscosity index. The damping is digressive and the ride height is steplessly adjustable via the damper body.

For the R34 with rear-wheel drive there are two ER kits. Which one you need depends on the lower mounting of the rear damper: an eye or a fork. This kit (D-72-ER) is for the eye version and has 8/5 kg/mm. The ER for the fork version has part number D-18-ER and comes with 12/10 kg/mm.

Fitting and delivery

The ER kit is vehicle-specific and replaces the original dampers and springs. We recommend having it fitted by an experienced mechanic, and check beforehand whether your rear dampers have an eye as the lower mounting. After setting the ride height, the car should go on the alignment rig. Start with the damping in the middle of the range and change only one setting per session. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. If the kit is temporarily sold out at BC Racing, you can still order it and we will let you know the delivery date.

If you take an R34 GTS on track seriously, a 1-way kit hits a limit: stiffer on compression then also means stiffer on rebound. With the ER you separate the two, so that you can, for example, let the car compress more firmly without it coming back slowly. What is the difference between the BC Racing ER and ZX for the Nissan Skyline R34 GTS rear eye?

The ER is 2-way, the ZX is 3-way. On the ZX the compression is further divided into low speed (20 clicks) and high speed (12 clicks), in addition to 30 clicks of rebound. Both have an external reservoir, and for the R34 rear eye both have 8/5 kg/mm.

How do I check whether the BC Racing ER for the Skyline R34 rear eye fits my car?

Look at the bottom of the rear damper. An eye, meaning a round bush with a bolt through it, means that this ER coilover kit Skyline R34 rear eye fits. A fork means that you need the D-18-ER. If in doubt, contact us and we will work it out together.

Does the BC Racing ER D-72-ER fit a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R?

No. This kit is only for the rear-wheel drive R34 GTS and GT-t with rear eye rear dampers. For the GT-R R33 and R34, BC Racing has the ER with part number D-08-ER.
