Description
The MTS Comfort Passat B2 Inox is a height-adjustable weld-in insert kit (coilover) from MTS Technik for the Volkswagen Passat B2 / Santana and Audi 80 B2 / 90 B2 / Coupe B2, model years 1978 to 1989. Comfort is the softest MTS Technik setup: lower and firmer than standard, with as much ride comfort as possible.
On the Inox version, the damper bodies are made of stainless steel, so road salt and moisture don’t stand a chance. This is a weld-in insert kit: the original front struts are shortened and welded.

Fitting and delivery
To fit the MTS Comfort Passat B2 Inox, the original front struts are shortened and welded as described in the manual. Have this done by an experienced mechanic or welder.
- The stated lowering applies relative to the standard suspension. If the car has a factory sport suspension, the lowering will be smaller.
- When fitting, check the clearance between tyre or wheel and the strut: at least 5 mm. If it is less, use approved wheel spacers.
- The adjustment range may differ depending on the version of the car, the lowering and the accuracy of the welding work on the suspension.
- After fitting the MTS Comfort Passat B2 Inox, have the wheel alignment checked, because camber and toe change as well.
Delivery: 4 to 7 working days while manufacturer stock lasts.
The MTS Comfort Passat B2 Inox combines stainless steel damper bodies, Eibach springs of 40 and 35 N/mm and up to 85 mm of lowering for the Volkswagen Passat B2 / Santana and Audi 80 B2 / 90 B2 / Coupe B2.
Why choose the MTS Comfort Passat B2 Inox?
With the MTS Comfort Passat B2 Inox you choose a lower car without giving up ride comfort; the softer springs make the kit pleasant for long trips and daily use. If you also drive in winter or the car is parked outside, the Inox version pays for itself: stainless steel doesn’t rust, so the thread of the height adjustment doesn’t seize up. If you mainly drive in summer, the Gold version is a more affordable alternative.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Comfort, Street and Stance?
All versions use the same dampers; the difference lies in the Eibach springs and the lowering range: Comfort (40 and 35 N/mm), Street (50 and 40 N/mm) and Stance (50 and 60 N/mm). Comfort is the softest. Street is the standard. Stance is the firmest and the lowest.
What is the difference between Gold and Inox?
Gold has steel damper bodies with a yellow zinc coating, Inox has stainless steel damper bodies. Inox is more resistant to road salt and moisture and therefore costs more. Otherwise, the kits are identical.
Do the struts really have to be welded?
Yes. With this weld-in insert kit, your original struts are shortened and welded as described in the manual. If you don’t want to weld yourself, check whether a send-in kit exists for your car: with that, MTS Technik does the welding.
How long does delivery take?
The MTS Comfort Passat B2 Inox is delivered within 4 to 7 working days as long as the manufacturer has stock.
