The MTS Stance E34 Gold is a height-adjustable send-in kit (coilover) from MTS Technik for the BMW E34 Sedan and Touring, model years 1987 to 1996. Stance is the lowest and firmest setup from MTS Technik, for those who want the wheel tight under the wheel arch.

On the Gold version, the steel parts have a yellow zinc coating and the aluminium parts are black anodised. This is a send-in kit: MTS Technik builds the kit with your own original front struts, so you don’t have to weld anything yourself.

Note: not suitable for versions with four-wheel drive (525iX). Only for cars without level control (NIVO) or factory air suspension. Only for cars without electronically controlled damping. Axle load: maximum 1060 kg front and maximum 1300 kg rear; check your car’s vehicle type plate.

Fitting and delivery

MTS Technik builds the MTS Stance E34 Gold with your own original front struts: after receipt they are stripped of their paint, welded to size and zinc-plated.

• The stated lowering applies relative to the standard suspension. If the car has a factory sport suspension, the lowering will be smaller.
• When fitting, check the clearance between tyre or wheel and the strut: at least 5 mm. If it is less, use approved wheel spacers.
• After fitting the MTS Stance E34 Gold, have the wheel alignment checked, because camber and toe change as well.

How a send-in kit works

• After your order we will email you the shipping instructions and the address for your original front struts.
• Beforehand, remove all parts from the struts, such as hubs, bearings, cover caps, damper cartridges, bolts and nuts. If the struts arrive not disassembled, or if damage is found (for example broken bolts), they will be sent back or extra costs will be charged.
• Send in the struts in their original paint, even if it looks bad. Do not spray or paint them beforehand; they are stripped, welded and then zinc-plated.
• Because the kit is made to measure with your struts, the right of withdrawal for distance purchases does not apply: a send-in kit cannot be returned.
• This kit is only delivered within the European Union.

With the MTS Stance E34 Gold you choose the lowest possible car with direct, firm handling; the stiffer springs keep the body steady, even with a large lowering. The Gold version is the most affordable way to get an MTS Technik coilover kit, with a zinc coating that protects well against rust. If you also drive in winter, take a look at the Inox version with stainless steel damper bodies. With the included camber plates you set the camber, which with a large lowering means less tyre wear and more grip. And because it is a send-in kit, you don’t have to weld anything yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Does this kit also fit a four-wheel-drive (525iX) version?

No. The MTS Stance E34 Gold is made for the rear-wheel-drive versions.

What is the difference between Street and Stance?

All versions use the same dampers; the difference lies in the Eibach springs and the lowering range: Street (70 and 25-43 N/mm) and Stance (80 and 25-43 N/mm). Street is the standard. Stance is the firmest and the lowest.

What is the difference between Gold and Inox?

Gold has steel damper bodies with a yellow zinc coating, Inox has stainless steel damper bodies. Inox is more resistant to road salt and moisture and therefore costs more. Otherwise, the kits are identical.
