Description
DriftMax lock kit BMW E9X with steel subframe up to 70° steering angle
With the DriftMax lock kit BMW E9X you give your 3 Series E90, E91, E92 or E93 up to 70° of steering angle. You get the complete front axle in one kit: a reinforced steel subframe that relocates the steering rack, DriftMax knuckles, hubs and bearings, lower arms and tie rods. All plug-and-play.
The original aluminium subframe of the E9X tends to crack under intensive use. The steel DriftMax subframe takes over that role and reinforces the entire front axle at the same time. Thanks to the new position of the steering rack and the banana-style lower arms, as on the E30, E36 and E46, you get more control and more steering angle.
The knuckles correct the roll centre by 35 mm, so a lowered E9X gets its original geometry back. At full lock the front wheels are parallel: zero Ackermann and less bump steer.

Installation and delivery
The steel subframe replaces the aluminium original and moves the steering rack to its new position. All bolts, brackets and polyurethane bushes are included in the kit. For the front axle, choose E36 coilovers or keep your E9X coilovers with the optional knuckle adapters. If you do not have coilovers yet, you can add the matching Versus Sport coilovers with 16 damping settings when you order; if you already have Versus coilovers, you can add the E36 lower mounts in M55. After installation, the wheel alignment must be reset. The lock kit BMW E9X has a delivery time of 4 to 7 days, the optional knuckle adapters up to 30 days.
Steel instead of aluminium and 70° instead of the standard steering lock: that is the DriftMax lock kit BMW E9X.
Why choose this lock kit BMW E9X?
The E9X is popular as a drift car, but the standard front axle limits the steering angle and the aluminium subframe is not made for heavy drift use. This lock kit BMW E9X solves both issues in one go. You get a complete, plug-and-play front axle with hubs and bearings, your 300 or 330 mm brakes fit, and with the knuckle adapters you can keep using your current E9X coilovers.
Frequently asked questions
Does the kit fit an M3?
On the M3 E90 and E92, fitting the lock kit BMW E9X is possible, with a modification to make the original 348 mm brakes fit. Contact us before you order.
Can I keep using my current E9X coilovers?
Yes, with the optional DriftMax knuckle adapters. Without adapters, the kit is designed for E36 coilovers on the front axle.
Why a steel subframe?
The original aluminium subframe can crack under intensive use. The steel DriftMax subframe reinforces the front axle and relocates the steering rack to a better position.
How quickly is the kit delivered?
The delivery time is 4 to 7 days. The optional knuckle adapters can take up to 30 days.
