Description
BMW E46 Set of Aluminium Subframe Mount Bushes
These aluminium subframe mount bushes replace the rubber bushes that hold the rear subframe of the BMW E46 and the Z4 to the body. Where rubber gives way and cracks over time, aluminium provides a solid, direct connection. As a result, the subframe no longer moves independently of the body.
The set is intended for drift and motorsport projects based on an E46 or Z4 where a predictable rear end matters. You notice the difference in stability and control, both on the straight and in corners.

Installation and delivery
To replace the subframe mount bushes, the rear subframe has to be removed from the car. Press the old rubber bushes out of the subframe, then press in the aluminium bushes. Use a suitable press or bush tool for this and make sure the bush goes into its housing straight. Thanks to the knurling, the bush then sits firmly and can no longer twist.
While you are doing this job, also check the condition of the subframe and the mounting points in the floor. A solid mount transfers more force into the body, so a healthy floor is important. You will find more bushes and mounts in our suspension bushes category. If you also want to fix the differential solidly, take a look at the aluminium differential bushes for the E46.

No rubber that gives way, but a solid connection between subframe and body.
Why choose these subframe mount bushes?
Original rubber subframe bushes are made for comfort. On a car with more grip, more power or a lot of drift work, they let the subframe move, which makes the rear end unsettled. Aluminium subframe mount bushes made of PA9 take away that play and give a tight, direct feel. The knurled outer surface makes sure they also sit firmly in an older subframe.
Bear in mind that aluminium bushes pass on vibration and noise more directly than rubber. For a drift car or track car, that is usually not an issue, but for a comfortable daily driver it is something to think about.

Frequently asked questions
Why aluminium instead of rubber?
Aluminium does not give way. The subframe is therefore fixed solidly to the body, which provides more stability and control.
Why is the outer surface knurled?
The knurling stops the bush from turning in its housing and takes up small differences in size between subframes.
Do these subframe mount bushes also fit a Z4?
Yes. The set is suitable for the BMW E46 and the Z4.
What are the subframe mount bushes made of?
PA9 aluminium with high mechanical strength and fatigue strength.
Does the subframe have to come out for installation?
Yes, in practice it does. The old bushes are pressed out and the new ones pressed in.
