These reinforced BMW E30 engine mounts are made for the BMW E30, E21 and E12 with an engine from the M20 family. They hold the six-cylinder firmly in place, even when the car has been given more power and is used hard on track. That way you have less trouble with an engine that shifts back and forth when you accelerate and shift.

Original engine mounts of these old BMWs have often sagged after decades. For a drift car, rally car or a built-up road E30, a firmer mounting is therefore a logical step.

Installation and delivery

You fit the BMW E30 engine mounts in place of the original ones. Support the engine on a jack with a piece of wood under the sump, or hang it from an engine support beam. Then remove the old mounts and put the new ones in their place. Only fully tighten the bolts once the engine hangs straight in the engine bay again.

While you are working, also check the condition of the front crossmember around the mounting points. On old cars there is sometimes rust or a small crack there, and you want to repair that before you fit a stiffer mounting. Use new lock nuts where needed and check after the first drives that everything is still tight.

Because the new BMW E30 engine mounts are stiffer than worn originals, you feel a bit more vibration in the interior, especially at idle. On an E30 with a manual gearbox it is smart to check the gearbox mounts at the same time.

An old E30 with sagging engine mounts only really drives tightly once the engine stays still again.
