The BC Racing DS coilover kit E30 51mm (part number I-07-DS-DA) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW 3 Series E30 Sedan with 51 mm front struts, model years 1982 to 1991, in BC Racing’s weld-in version, which requires welding for fitting. The spring rate is 5.5 kg/mm front and 8 kg/mm rear.

For anyone who regularly takes an E30 Sedan on track, the DS series from BC Racing is the step up from the BR. The digressive piston in the monotube dampers gives extra damping at slow movements between 0 and 50 mm/s, so the car stays calmer when it rolls, dives or squats.

Alongside this kit with the firmer front spring, BC Racing also has a DS with 5/8 kg/mm for the 51 mm Sedan. It is a weld-in version: welding is required for fitting, and you leave that to a specialist.

Fitting and delivery

This vehicle-specific kit takes the place of the original dampers and springs. It is a weld-in kit; welding is required for fitting, and that is a job for a specialist. On some cars the pillowball top mount at the front requires a small modification to the upper mounting; if in doubt, contact us. After installation, first set the ride height and then have the wheel alignment done, because camber and toe shift as well. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. If BC Racing temporarily has it out of stock, simply order it anyway; we will keep you informed of the delivery date.
