This set of uniball rear top mounts consists of two uniball top mounts for the rear shock absorbers of the BMW 3 Series E30, E36, E36 Compact and E46, the Z3 and the Z4 E85/E86. They replace the original rubber shock absorber mounts with an aluminium housing with a uniball bearing, so the damper is attached to the body without play and without rubber giving way.

The set is intended for drift cars, rally sprint and club racing cars, stance projects and powerful road cars. Wherever you want a direct, tight rear axle, these uniball rear top mounts are a logical step.

Installation and delivery

The uniball rear top mounts go in place of the original upper shock absorber mounts. Remove the trim in the boot, support the rear axle and remove the old mounts. Fit the new uniball rear top mounts on the damper with the supplied bushes and tighten the nuts to the correct torque.

Because there is no longer any rubber in between, it is wise to keep an eye on the condition of the shock towers. Have the car aligned after installation and check after the first few drives that everything is still tight.

With uniball bearings in an aluminium housing, the play caused by worn rubber mounts disappears. The supplied bushes let you use the full working range of the bearing, and you get a set for both sides straight away. A solid upgrade for any E30, E36, E46, Z3 or Z4 that is driven seriously.

Especially on older BMWs, the original rubber mounts have often dried out or sagged. If you are fitting coilovers or new dampers anyway, you can include the uniball rear top mounts in the same job. That way you get a tight, predictable rear axle in one go and only have to remove the trim in the boot once.
