Audi A3 8Y V-Maxx Big Brake Kit 355 mm 6-piston

This big brake kit A3 8Y 355 mm from V-Maxx is intended for the fourth-generation Audi A3: the Sportback, the Saloon and the Allstreet. The kit consists of 355 mm two-piece brake discs and 6-piston calipers made of forged aluminium for the front axle and applies to all versions from 77 to 228 kW.

In the more powerful versions of the 8Y, spirited driving asks a lot of the brakes. With this V-Maxx kit, that limit moves up considerably: the aluminium caliper, bracket and bell dissipate the heat quickly, so the braking power stays consistent even under repeated hard braking. That makes the kit suitable for track days and for spirited driving on the road.

V-Maxx Autosport is a Dutch manufacturer. The kit has a TÜV certificate according to §19.3 and is approved for use on public roads.

Fitting and delivery

The kit comes with V-Maxx fitting instructions; fit the kit according to those instructions and the tightening torques stated in them. The kit is only suitable for cars with original steering knuckles, on the 8Y the steel knuckle with Ø55 mm clamp. Clean the brake kit with a mild soap, as wheel cleaner attacks the aluminium. For heavy track use, V-Maxx recommends removing the dust seals from the calipers.

Options: V-Maxx Steelflex steel braided brake hoses for the front axle (620 mm, set of 2) with PTFE inner hose and TÜV approval, Ferodo brake fluid (500 ml) and a V-Maxx wear indicator set. Delivery time: 4 to 7 days.

What is the difference between the 355 mm and the 365 mm kit for the A3 8Y?

The big brake kit A3 8Y 355 mm (20 AU355 20) fits wheels from 18 inch. The 365 mm kit (20 AU365 20) has a larger disc and more braking torque, but requires wheels of at least 19 inch. Both kits have forged 6-piston calipers and the same applications.

Can I use the big brake kit A3 8Y 355 mm on the road?

Yes. The kit has a TÜV certificate according to §19.3 and is therefore approved for use on public roads. That remains the case with an officially approved power upgrade, because the kW limits refer to the original output.
