Ford Puma V-Maxx Big Brake Kit 330 mm 4-piston (140 mm caliper mounting)

This big brake kit Puma reinforced is the V-Maxx version for the Ford Puma (J2K) from 09-2019 with reinforced suspension (steering knuckle no. 2480640 / 642) and 140 mm caliper mounting hole spacing. The kit fits all versions from 70 to 147 kW and consists of 330 mm two-piece brake discs and 4-piston calipers made of forged aluminium.

V-Maxx supplies two 330 mm kits for the Puma; this one is for the versions with 140 mm hole spacing and reinforced suspension. You get more braking power and much less fade under repeated hard braking, and everything comes ready to fit: V-Maxx sport brake pads with TÜV approval and adapters for the original rubber brake hoses. V-Maxx Autosport is a Dutch manufacturer and the kit has a TÜV certificate according to §19.3, so it is approved for use on public roads.

Fitting and delivery

Fit the kit according to the V-Maxx fitting instructions supplied and observe the tightening torques given in the instructions. The kit only fits cars with original steering knuckles, in this version those with no. 2480640 / 642. Clean the brake kit with a mild soap, as wheel cleaner attacks the aluminium. For heavy track use, V-Maxx recommends removing the dust seals from the calipers.

Options: V-Maxx Steelflex steel braided brake hoses 420 mm with M10x1.5 connection (set of 2), with PTFE inner hose and TÜV approval; Ferodo brake fluid (500 ml); a V-Maxx wear indicator set; a different caliper colour (red RAL 3020 as standard; black, blue or yellow at extra cost); an extra set of Ferodo FDSR216 DS Performance brake pads without TÜV approval. Delivery time: 4 to 7 days.

Which Puma kit do I need?

Look at the steering knuckle and the caliper mounting hole spacing. This big brake kit Puma reinforced (20 FO330 23) is for versions with reinforced suspension (steering knuckle no. 2480640 / 642) and 140 mm hole spacing. For the Puma with 120 mm hole spacing without reinforced suspension, there is 20 FO330 21.

Is it normal for the brake pads to click?

Yes. The pads deliberately have 1 to 1.5 mm of play, so they do not seize when hot. As a result, you hear a short click when you change direction of travel.

Does V-Maxx also offer a kit for the rear axle?

No. V-Maxx only supplies kits for the front axle; that is where about 90% of the braking power comes from.

Which wheel size is required?

At least 17 inch. Check the clearance with the fitment template (WFC); a wheel spacer is sometimes required.
