This E36 Compact spare wheel well delete is a light aluminium cover that closes off the spare wheel recess in the boot of the BMW E36 Compact. Once you have taken out the spare wheel and the items that go with it, this lets you cover the open well neatly. The result is a flat, clean boot floor and less weight at the rear.

For drift and track cars, every kilo counts. This cover also keeps dust and smoke out of the interior, something that quickly gets in through an open well.

Installation and delivery

How you fix the panels in the E36 Compact spare wheel well is up to you. Rivets (pop rivets) or self-tapping screws are recommended. First lay the two parts loosely in the well to see how they fit, mark the holes and then pre-drill. Treat drilled holes in the car’s bodywork against rust before you set the rivets.

If you want the cover to seal particularly well against dust, finish the edges with a bead of sealant or sealing tape. Also check that no cables or lines get trapped.
