AST Bolt-in Roll Cage BMW E21 Coupé V3

The AST Bolt-in Roll Cage BMW E21 Coupé V3 is a full roll cage for the BMW 3 Series E21 with 2-door coupé bodywork. In addition to the front reinforcement bars, this Bolt-in E21 Coupé V3 adds door bars on both the driver’s and the passenger’s side, covering the side-impact part of the story.

The cage is designed and built by AST Roll Cages in Spain, for drivers who take part in competitions and are looking for a level of equipment that goes beyond rollover protection alone.

Fitting and delivery

The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. Bear in mind that door bars change the way you get in and out, and that you should check the door cards and window mechanism beforehand. The six foot plates are welded to the bodyshell and the structure is then bolted in place. AST digitises the bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D, so that it fits your car exactly.

With version V3, the protection extends to the sides, exactly where the compact E21 has the least material between you and the outside world.

Can I keep my door cards?

That depends on how you are building the car. A door bar runs through the space occupied by the original panel, so check the clearance at the panel, the window guide and the door handle of your E21 beforehand.

How does this Bolt-in E21 Coupé V3 differ from the V4?

The V3 has the door bars; the V4 adds an extra diagonal brace and a harness bar. If side protection is all you are after, the V3 is the logical choice.
