The AST Bolt-in Roll Cage BMW E24 Coupé V1 is a full roll cage for the BMW 6 Series E24 with 2-door coupé bodywork. This Bolt-in E24 Coupé V1 is the basic version of the bolt-in range: the main hoop with backstays forms the heart of the structure, and the cage is bolted onto six foot plates that are welded to the bodyshell.

The cage is designed and built by AST Roll Cages in Spain, for drivers of a classic 6 Series who want to put their car to serious track, drift or rally use, with a structure that has been custom-designed for each chassis.

Fitting and delivery

The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. The six foot plates are welded to the bodyshell, so have the cage fitted by a skilled welder. AST digitises the bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D, so that it fits your car exactly.

The E24 is a large, heavy two-door built from 1976 to 1989, and that is exactly why a structure measured on the chassis itself, rather than taken from a generic jig, matters. You get a welded cage in E355 steel that is supplied in sections, so fitting it inside the car remains manageable. Homologation and regulations

For this product, AST states that the safety structure is designed to FIA Appendix J for the BMW 633 CSi and 635 CSi. No homologation number is given. Does any welding need to be done on the car?

Yes. The six foot plates are welded to the bodyshell and the cage is then bolted onto them. The structure itself is supplied already welded and unpainted, split into sections via connecting sleeves.

What is the difference from the heavier versions?

The Bolt-in E24 Coupé V1 is the basic version with main hoop and backstays. The higher versions in the same range have a more extensive set of bars and therefore a higher specification.

Does the cage fit my car precisely?

AST scans the bodyshell of the E24 with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D based on that scan. As a result, the structure closely follows the original inner contours of the bodywork.
