The AST Multipoint Weld-in Roll Cage BMW E28 Saloon V3 is a full roll cage for the BMW 5 Series E28 with 4-door saloon bodywork. This Multipoint E28 Saloon V3 combines the front reinforcement bars with door bars across the doors and remains welded to the bodyshell at ten points.

The cage is designed and built by AST Roll Cages in Spain, for drivers who compete with their E28 from model years 1981 to 1988 in events where side protection is mandatory.

Fitting and delivery

The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. AST digitises the bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D, so that it fits your car exactly. Decide where the seat will go before welding, as the door bars make the entry narrower.

The Multipoint E28 Saloon V3 has door bars that run inside the door pillars, so the entry becomes narrower and a thick original door card often no longer fits. In practice, the rear seat area is lost.

AST Roll Cages lists FIA homologation number 5006 for this product. According to AST, this homologation applies to the BMW 528i. If your E28 has a different engine, you should not assume that your car is covered; check this with your own motorsport organiser.
