The AST Removable Half Roll Cage BMW G82 Coupé V1 is a half roll cage for the BMW 4 Series G82 with 2-door coupé bodywork. This removable half cage G82 Coupé V1 is the entry-level version with a main hoop and backstays, and occupies only the rear compartment; up front, the car’s interior remains untouched.

The cage is designed and built by AST Roll Cages in Spain, for drivers who take their G82 to track days and drift events but want to keep using the car as normal the rest of the time.

Fitting and delivery

The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. The four foot plates are welded to the bodyshell, after which the cage is bolted onto them. The G82 is a modern car with a lot of electronics and airbags, so plan the fitting carefully and have a specialist determine beforehand which trim, wiring and cover panels need to come out. In addition, always check the regulations of your own motorsport organiser before you start.

Why choose this removable half cage G82 Coupé V1?

If you use your G82 for track days but don’t want to convert it permanently, this V1 is exactly right for you. AST digitises the bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D, so that the hoop sits snugly against the inside of the body. Because the structure comes apart via connecting sleeves, you can remove it without affecting the bodywork and refit it later.

Frequently asked questions

Does this cage also fit a BMW F82 or a convertible?

No. The removable half cage G82 Coupé V1 is made exclusively for the 2-door coupé of the G82. The F82 is its predecessor and gets its own, non-interchangeable cage from AST, and AST does not offer this cage for the open-top version.

So does any welding need to be done after all?

Yes. The four foot plates are welded to the bodyshell; only the cage itself is then bolted in place. This is necessary to spread the loads properly across the bodywork.

What exactly will I receive?

You receive the welded structure with connecting sleeves, the reinforcement plates, all the mounting hardware, documentation, fitting instructions and the sticker set. The cage is unpainted.

What if my car has headlining?

When ordering, please state whether the headlining will stay in your car, and AST will tailor the roll cage accordingly.

Where is the roll cage anchored at the rear?

You choose this yourself when ordering: in the rear suspension area or in the boot area. AST builds the rear foot plates for the area you specify.

What is the delivery time?

The standard delivery time for this roll cage is 15 to 35 working days.
