The AST Removable Roll Cage BMW F20 V3 is a full roll cage for the BMW 1 Series F20 with five-door hatchback bodywork. This Removable Roll Cage F20 V3 builds on the V2 and adds door bars, so that there is steel between you and the outside world at the sides as well.

The cage is designed and built by AST Roll Cages in Spain, for drivers who want side protection without permanently welding the cage into the car.

Fitting and delivery

The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. The foot plates are welded to the bodyshell and the cage is then bolted in place. The door bars make getting in noticeably different, so bear this in mind when choosing your seats and harnesses.

Why choose this removable roll cage F20 V3?

In drifting and track work, a large share of the risks comes from the side. That is why the V3 adds door bars across the opening, in addition to the V2’s bars to the bulkhead. AST digitises the F20 bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D, so that the door bars fit neatly along the pillars. The cage is intended for track and competition use; always check the regulations of your own organiser.

What is the difference from the V2?

The Removable Roll Cage F20 V3 has the same layout as the V2, plus door bars for side protection.

Can I still get in and out normally?

Door bars make the opening smaller. That is normal for track and drift use, but expect to get in differently than in a standard F20.

Does this cage fit the three-door F21?

No. AST makes a separate cage for each body style. This one is for the five-door F20; the three-door F21 has its own version, and the two are not interchangeable.
