AST Weld-in Roll Cage BMW E30 Coupé V2

The AST Weld-in Roll Cage BMW E30 Coupé V2 is a full roll cage for the rear-wheel-drive BMW E30 3 Series with 2-door coupé bodywork. In addition to the main hoop with braces, this Weld-in E30 Coupé V2 also has front reinforcement bars that run through to the bulkhead, so the front section of the bodyshell starts working as part of the structure.

The cage is designed and built by AST Roll Cages in Spain, for drivers who want more torsional rigidity at the front without fitting door bars just yet.

Fitting and delivery

The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. Bear in mind that the bars to the bulkhead run through the dashboard area, so plan the fitting for a time when the interior is stripped out anyway. The welding is permanent and should be carried out by a professional.

With the front reinforcement bars to the bulkhead, the V2 brings the front of your E30 Coupé into the safety structure.

The step from V1 to V2 lies in the connection to the front end. Once the main hoop is tied to the bulkhead via the front bars, the bodyshell flexes noticeably less and the front axle geometry stays more stable under load. For drifting and track work, that means a car that remains more predictable as the laps go by.

What is the difference from the V1?

The Weld-in E30 Coupé V2 has the same main hoop with braces as the V1, but adds front reinforcement bars to the bulkhead. This makes the front section of the car part of the cage as well.

Does this cage fit an all-wheel-drive E30?

No. This version is made for the rear-wheel-drive E30 Coupé. For the 325iX with all-wheel drive, AST supplies a separate cage.
