Description
AST Weld-in Roll Cage BMW Z3 Roadster V2
The AST Weld-in Roll Cage BMW Z3 Roadster V2 is a full roll cage for the BMW Z3 with 2-door Roadster bodywork. This Weld-in Z3 Roadster V2 is the V1 with front reinforcement bars to the bulkhead, so the front section of the car is drawn into the structure.
The cage is designed and built by AST Roll Cages in Spain, for drivers who want more than just protection behind the seats and want to make the nose of their Z3 more stable.
Key benefits
- Bars to the bulkhead tie the front end to the main structure.
- Sharper steering response as torsion between the front and rear is reduced.
- Eight welded mounting points that spread the load evenly across the floor pan and pillars.
- A big gain on an open car, where there is no roof to contribute to rigidity.
- E355 steel, 45 mm main hoop and 40 mm for the rest of the structure.
- Gussets and reinforcement plates are included in the kit, so you don’t have to cut anything yourself.
- Supplied unpainted so that painting is done after welding and doesn’t get burnt.
Suitable for
BMW Z3, 2-door Roadster
- BMW Z3 Roadster, the open two-seater built from 1995 to 2002
- Type: weld-in roll cage, version V2
- Not suitable for the BMW Z3 Coupé. AST does not supply a cage for the closed coupé; this cage is designed around the open bodywork of the Roadster and will not fit the coupé.

Fitting and delivery
The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. With this version, expect extra dismantling work at the front: the dashboard and the trim near the bulkhead have to come out before the front bars can be welded in place.
With the bars to the bulkhead, the Z3 stops flexing like two separate halves.
Why choose this Weld-in Z3 Roadster V2 roll cage?
AST digitises the bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D, so it fits your car exactly. The front bars in particular demand that precision, as they run along the dashboard and the bulkhead. The cage is intended for track and competition use; always check the regulations of your own organiser before ordering.
Frequently asked questions
Does this cage also fit a BMW Z3 Coupé?
No. The Weld-in Z3 Roadster V2 is designed for the open Roadster, and AST does not supply a cage for the Z3 Coupé. The structure follows the lines of a car without a fixed roof and cannot be adapted to fit the coupé.
What is the difference from the V1?
The V1 is limited to the main hoop with backstays. The V2 adds the front reinforcement bars to the bulkhead, so that the front of the car also helps carry the loads.
What is the delivery time?
The standard delivery time for this roll cage is 15 to 35 working days.
