Description
AST Weld-in Roll Cage Nissan GT-R R35 Coupé V4
The Weld-in R35 V4 is a full roll cage for the Nissan GT-R with the R35 chassis in 2-door Coupé bodywork. The structure is permanently welded to the bodyshell at eight points, which gives the most rigid connection there is: no bolts, no sleeves, just steel to steel.
V4 is a fully equipped level with door bars, an extra diagonal brace in the main hoop and a harness bar for the belts, on top of the rear structure and the bars to the bulkhead. The rear is anchored at the wheel arch.
For this item too, AST lists homologation number GT1-101, and the manufacturer states that the structure is built to FIA Appendix J, in the version for the Nissan GT-R.

- Door bars and extra diagonal brace, for side protection and a braced main hoop.

Fitting and delivery
The kit is made to order, with a delivery time of 15 to 35 working days. Welding it in is specialist work: the eight mounting points must be clean, the interior stripped out and the seams fully welded. Allow for an experienced fabricator and a car that will be off the road for several days. AST digitises the bodyshell with laser scanners and designs the cage in 3D, so the tubes run tightly along the sill, roof and wheel arch.
Steel to steel, with a homologation number on paper: the most rigid connection you can make in an R35.
Why choose this Weld-in R35 V4?
A welded-in cage turns bodyshell and structure into a single unit, so steering corrections come through more directly and the rear axle stays calmer. On the R35, with its high weight and its grip, that is a gain you feel straight away. Because V4 already has door bars, a diagonal brace and a harness bar, many drivers will find nothing missing here, without having to go straight to a 10-point construction.
Frequently asked questions
Is this roll cage homologated?
On the factory documentation for this item, AST lists homologation number GT1-101 and states that the structure is built to FIA Appendix J, in the version for the Nissan GT-R. Always check with your own federation which requirements apply to your car and class.
Can I take the cage out again later?
Not without cutting the cage out and repairing the panelwork. The Weld-in R35 V4 is a permanent construction, and that is exactly where its rigidity comes from.
Why is this one lighter than the Bolt-in version?
A weld-in kit does without the connecting sleeves and the heavy base plate construction. AST quotes 71 kg, compared with 210 kg for the bolt-in version.
What is the difference from V5?
V5 has the full set of bars, making it the most comprehensive eight-point level. V4 stops at door bars, an extra diagonal brace and a harness bar.
What is included in the kit?
The weld-in kit with custom-bent tubes, reinforcement gussets, reinforcement plates, bolts, washers and nuts, documentation, fitting instructions and a sticker set.
What is the delivery time?
The standard delivery time for this roll cage is 15 to 35 working days.
