The AST weld-in roll cage for the Nissan Silvia PS13 Coupé V4 with NASCAR door bars is a full roll cage that is welded into the two-door Nissan Silvia PS13 at eight points. This Weld-in PS13 V4 NASCAR differs from the regular V4 in the door: instead of a single straight door bar, it has several curved tubes, in what is known as the NASCAR design.

The curved tubes follow the shape of the door and fill the area next to the driver far better than a single bar. In side contact, the structure therefore has more material to absorb the impact, exactly at the height where it counts.

Fitting and delivery

The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. The kit is assembled in the car and welded to the bodyshell at eight points. The door cards come out and, with NASCAR tubes, cannot go back in unmodified. Check beforehand that you can still get in and out comfortably with your seat in the desired position. With a PS13 of this age, it is wise to inspect the bodywork first, as there is no point welding onto corroded floor panels. This cage is intended for track and competition use; check the regulations of your own motorsport governing body beforehand, as not every class allows NASCAR door bars.

In drifting, you run close to the wall and close to other cars. A single straight door bar then covers only a narrow strip. The NASCAR version fills the entire door area with curved tubes, which gives you noticeably more margin in side contact. Does this cage also fit the three-door S13 hatchback?

No. AST designs a separate range for the hatchback. This cage is made for the two-door coupé.

Can I still get in and out normally?

It is tighter. Expect to step over the tubes and for the original door card to be modified or left out.

Can this cage be removed later?

No, it is permanently welded to the bodyshell. For a removable solution, look at the half cage or the bolt-in range.
