Description
AST Multipoint Weld-in Roll Cage Toyota MR2 W20 2-door Roadster V4
The AST Multipoint Weld-in Roll Cage Toyota MR2 W20 2-door Roadster V4 is a full roll cage for the Toyota MR2 W20 with two-door roadster body, welded to the body at ten points. This Multipoint Roll Cage MR2 W20 V4 is supplied as a welding kit and welded into one unit in the car.
The difference with the standard weld-in range lies in the anchoring: ten weld points instead of eight. The extra points spread the forces even better over the body and make the connection between cage and shell stiffer. The V4 builds on the lower versions with extra braces, for anyone using the Toyota MR2 W20 fully in competition.
Key benefits
- Ten weld points: two more than the standard weld-in range.
- Better force distribution: more anchoring means less load per point.
- Anchored up to the wheel arch: the rear stays run to the wheel arch.
- Extra braces: builds on the lower versions with more tubing.
- Gussets included: to reinforce the joints.
- E355 steel: 45 mm diameter main hoop, 40 mm for the rest of the structure.
- Custom base plates: 3 mm thick steel, designed per car rather than universal.
- Exact fit: the body is digitised with laser scanners before the cage is drawn in 3D.
- Complete kit: supplied unpainted with fixings, documentation, installation manual, sticker set and welding test sample.

Installation and delivery
The cage is built to order; the standard delivery time is 15 to 35 working days. It comes as a welding kit and is welded into one unit in the car. Work from the back to the front: first the main hoop and the ten-point anchoring, then the front bars. Leave the welding to someone with experience in roll cages and use the included welding test sample to check the settings beforehand. On a Toyota MR2 W20 of this age, check beforehand that the mounting areas are free of rust: welding onto corroded panels gives a cage that will not do its job in a crash. This cage is intended for circuit and competition use; check the regulations of your own motorsport organisation beforehand.
Ten weld points instead of eight: the same basis, but anchored more firmly in the body.
Why choose this Multipoint Roll Cage MR2 W20 V4?
For anyone who wants a weld-in cage with the strongest possible connection to the body, the multipoint range is the logical choice. The V4 combines the ten-point anchoring with more tubing than the lower versions, for a Toyota MR2 W20 that is used fully in competition.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference with the standard Weld-in V4?
The Multipoint Roll Cage MR2 W20 V4 is welded in on ten points instead of eight. That spreads the forces better over the body.
Can I weld the cage in myself?
Only if you have experience welding roll cages. A poor weld takes the strength out of the structure. If in doubt, leave it to a specialist.
Does this cage also fit other versions of the Toyota MR2 W20?
No. This cage is designed for the two-door roadster. Other body styles and generations have a different structure.
What is the delivery time?
The standard delivery time for this roll cage is 15 to 35 working days, because AST builds every cage to order.
