The BC Racing BR coilover kit Skyline R34 rear fork (part number D-18-BR-RS) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the Nissan Skyline R34 GTS and GT-t with rear-wheel drive (ER34) and a rear fork mounting of the rear dampers, model years 1998 to 2001. The spring rate is 8 kg/mm front and 5 kg/mm rear.

With the BR series, BC Racing targets the driver who mainly uses the car on the road but also likes to take in the occasional track day or autocross. For the R34 GTS that means: lower, tighter and easier to control, with a suspension you set up yourself. The dampers are monotube with a linear piston, you adjust compression and rebound together in 30 clicks, and you set the ride height via the damper body, independently of the spring preload.

Important with the R34: not every rear-wheel-drive R34 has the same rear damper. On some cars there is a fork at the bottom of the rear damper, a U-shaped bracket with two tabs on either side of the mounting point. Other cars have an eye with a through bolt there. BC Racing therefore makes two kits. This is the rear fork kit; for an eye there is the D-72-BR-RS.

Fitting and delivery

This BR kit is made specifically for the R34 with rear fork dampers and replaces the original dampers and springs. So first check under the car whether there is a fork at the bottom of the rear damper. Preferably have the kit fitted by an experienced mechanic and book a wheel alignment straight afterwards, because a different ride height changes camber and toe. How do I recognise a rear fork damper on my Nissan Skyline R34 for the BC Racing BR?

No. BC Racing lists this kit for the R34 GTS and GT-t with rear-wheel drive from 1998 to 2001, with rear fork dampers. For the GT-R R33 and R34 there is a separate BR with part number D-08-BR-RS.

What is the difference between the BC Racing BR and DS for the Skyline R34 GTS rear fork?

The difference is in the piston: the BR damps linearly, the DS digressively. As a result, the DS damps more firmly at slow movements and is a better match for an R34 that is often driven on the circuit. For the rear fork version both have 8/5 kg/mm.
