The BC Racing ER coilover kit E36 (part number I-01-ER) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW 3 Series E36 Sedan, Coupe, Convertible and Touring, model years 1992 to 1998. The spring rate is 8 kg/mm front and 12 kg/mm rear.

It is the 2-way kit from BC Racing, in the version with camber/caster top mounts. The ER series is made for serious track and competition use and works with a dual-piston monotube and an external reservoir.

Here you adjust compression and rebound separately from each other, each in 30 clicks. This lets you, for example, make the car turn in more sharply without it becoming unsettled on rebound. The digressive piston and fully synthetic oil with a very high viscosity index provide damping that still feels the same after a few hot sessions.

The spring rate is 8/12 kg/mm, clearly firmer than with the road-oriented kits. The ride height is infinitely adjustable via the damper body.

Fitting and delivery

The ER kit replaces the original dampers and springs front and rear. Because the camber/caster top mounts also change the wheel geometry, a wheel alignment after fitting is especially important. Then record a base setting and note down your clicks per damper, so that you can always go back to it. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock.
