The BC Racing ER coilover kit RX-8 (part number N-05-ER) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the Mazda RX-8 SE3P, model years 2003 to 2012. You choose the spring rate when ordering: 10/7 or 10/8 kg/mm front/rear.

The ER series is the 2-way adjustable coilover kit from BC Racing with external reservoir. Both versions are intended for an RX-8 that is driven seriously on track or in competition. The 10/8 version is the ER kit that BC Racing UK recommends for the RX-8.

You set compression and rebound each separately with 30 clicks. The monotube dampers with twin piston and external reservoir are filled with fully synthetic oil with an ultra-high viscosity index, and the damping is digressive. At the front both versions have 10 kg/mm, only the rear springs differ: with 7 kg/mm the rear axle is slightly more supple, with 8 kg/mm it is stiffer.

Fitting and delivery

The kit is vehicle-specific and replaces the original dampers and springs. We recommend having it fitted by an experienced mechanic; check that the reservoirs do not touch anything. After setting the ride height, have the wheel alignment done again. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock. If there is no stock, you can still order and we will let you know when the kit comes in.

The ER kit N-05-ER for the RX-8 comes in two spring setups, both with 10 kg/mm front and with 7 or 8 kg/mm rear. You choose the setup when ordering.

What is the difference between the BC Racing ER and ZX for the Mazda RX-8?

The ER is 2-way adjustable, the ZX 3-way. On the ZX the compression is split into low speed (20 clicks) and high speed (12 clicks), alongside 30 clicks of rebound; the ER has 30 clicks of compression and 30 clicks of rebound. The ZX for the RX-8 comes with 8/6 kg/mm springs.

What is the difference between 10/7 and 10/8 for the BC Racing ER for the RX-8?

The difference is in the rear springs. At the front both versions have 10 kg/mm, at the rear you choose between 7 and 8 kg/mm. With 10/7 the rear axle stays slightly more supple, with 10/8 it is stiffer.
