The MTS F40 is a height-adjustable coilover kit from MTS Technik for the BMW 1-series (F40), 2-series (F44 and F45) and X1 (F48), from model year 2013. Street is the standard setup from MTS Technik: a good balance between comfort and firmness, for daily use and the occasional track day or drift day.

On the Gold version, the steel parts have a yellow zinc coating and the aluminium parts are black anodised.

Note: axle load: maximum 1150 kg front and maximum 1160 kg rear; check your car’s vehicle type plate.

Fitting is also possible on cars with electronically adjustable damping; that system must then be disabled.

Fitting and delivery

The MTS F40 replaces the original dampers and springs and fits on the original mounting points.

• The stated lowering applies relative to the standard suspension. If the car has a factory sport suspension, the lowering will be smaller.
• When fitting, check the clearance between tyre or wheel and the strut: at least 5 mm. If it is less, use approved wheel spacers.
• Tip for adjusting the rear: remove the height adjuster, set the spring seat to the new position and refit the adjuster.
• After lowering, have the wheel alignment checked, because camber and toe change as well.
