The MTS Street E34 Gold is a height-adjustable weld-in insert kit (coilover) from MTS Technik for the BMW E34 Sedan and Touring, model years 1987 to 1996. Street is the standard setup from MTS Technik: a good balance between comfort and firmness.

On the Gold version, the steel parts have a yellow zinc coating and the aluminium parts are black anodised. This is a weld-in insert kit: the original front struts are shortened and welded.

Fitting and delivery

To fit the MTS Street E34 Gold, the original front struts are shortened and welded as described in the manual. Have this done by an experienced mechanic or welder.

• The stated lowering applies relative to the standard suspension. If the car has a factory sport suspension, the lowering will be smaller.
• When fitting, check the clearance between tyre or wheel and the strut: at least 5 mm. If it is less, use approved wheel spacers.
• After lowering, have the wheel alignment checked, because camber and toe change as well.

Frequently asked questions

Does this kit also fit a four-wheel-drive (525iX) version?

No. The MTS Street E34 Gold is made for the rear-wheel-drive versions.

What is the difference between Street and Stance?

All versions use the same dampers; the difference lies in the Eibach springs and the lowering range: Street (70 and 25-43 N/mm) and Stance (80 and 25-43 N/mm). Street is the standard. Stance is the firmest and the lowest.

What is the difference between Gold and Inox?

Gold has steel damper bodies with a yellow zinc coating, Inox has stainless steel damper bodies. Inox is more resistant to road salt and moisture and therefore costs more. Otherwise, the kits are identical.
