The MTS Street E61 Touring Inox is a height-adjustable coilover kit from MTS Technik for the BMW E61 Touring, model years 2004 to 2010. Street is the standard setup from MTS Technik: a good balance between comfort and firmness, for daily use and the occasional track day or drift day.

On the Inox version, the damper bodies are made of stainless steel, so road salt and moisture don’t stand a chance.

Note for the MTS Street E61 Touring Inox: not suitable for versions with four-wheel drive (xDrive). Only for cars without EDC (electronic damping control). Axle load: maximum 1090 kg front and maximum 1360 kg rear; check your car’s vehicle type plate.

This converts a car with level control (NIVO) to springs with height adjustment.

Fitting and delivery

The MTS Street E61 Touring Inox replaces the original dampers and springs and fits on the original mounting points.

• The stated lowering applies relative to the standard suspension. If the car has a factory sport suspension, the lowering will be smaller.
• When fitting, check the clearance between tyre or wheel and the strut: at least 5 mm. If it is less, use approved wheel spacers.
• Tip for adjusting the rear: remove the height adjuster, set the spring seat to the new position and refit the adjuster.
• After lowering, have the wheel alignment checked, because camber and toe change as well.

Does this kit also fit a four-wheel-drive (xDrive) version?

No. The MTS Street E61 Touring Inox is made for the rear-wheel-drive versions.

What is the difference between Street and Stance?

All versions use the same dampers; the difference lies in the Eibach springs and the lowering range: Street (70 and 120 N/mm) and Stance (90 and 120 N/mm). Street is the standard. Stance is the firmest and the lowest.

What is the difference between Gold and Inox?

Gold has steel damper bodies with a yellow zinc coating, Inox has stainless steel damper bodies. Inox is more resistant to road salt and moisture and therefore costs more. Otherwise, the kits are identical.
