The MTS Street Golf 1 Gold is a height-adjustable coilover kit from MTS Technik for the Volkswagen Golf 1 / Scirocco 1/2 / Jetta 1, model years 1974 to 1993. Street is the standard setup from MTS Technik: a good balance between comfort and firmness, for daily use and the occasional track day or drift day.

On the Gold version, the steel parts have a yellow zinc coating and the aluminium parts are black anodised.

Fitting and delivery

The MTS Street Golf 1 Gold replaces the original dampers and springs and fits on the original mounting points.

• The stated lowering applies relative to the standard suspension. If the car has a factory sport suspension, the lowering will be smaller.
• When fitting, check the clearance between tyre or wheel and the strut: at least 5 mm. If it is less, use approved wheel spacers.
• After fitting the MTS Street Golf 1 Gold, have the wheel alignment checked, because camber and toe change as well.

What is the difference between Comfort, Street and Stance?

All versions use the same dampers; the difference lies in the Eibach springs and the lowering range: Comfort (40 and 30 N/mm), Street (50 N/mm) and Stance (60 N/mm). Comfort is the softest. Street is the standard. Stance is the firmest and the lowest.

What is the difference between Gold and Inox?

Gold has steel damper bodies with a yellow zinc coating, Inox has stainless steel damper bodies. Inox is more resistant to road salt and moisture and therefore costs more. Otherwise, the kits are identical.
