The BC Racing ZR coilover kit E36 M3 (part number I-26-ZR) is a coilover kit adjustable in height and damping, also simply called a coilover, for the BMW E36 M3, model years 1992 to 1999, and the E36 Sedan. The spring rate is 10 kg/mm front and 12 kg/mm rear.
It is BC Racing’s motorsport kit. The ZR series was developed for competitive motorsport, where the setup changes per event and sometimes per session.
The dampers work with a double piston and an external reservoir, connected by braided steel lines. The reservoir can be mounted on the chassis or on the damper body. On MacPherson struts the damper is inverted, with double wishbones it is upright. With 3-way adjustment you set 20 clicks of low-speed compression, 12 clicks of high-speed compression and 30 clicks of rebound.
The spring rate is 10/12 kg/mm. You adjust the ride height completely independently of the spring preload, so that height and spring setting do not affect each other.

Fitting and delivery
Before fitting, decide where the reservoirs will go and route the steel lines so that they cannot chafe or get trapped anywhere. Then have the car aligned and set the basic damping before you drive. BC Racing advises periodic greasing of the ZR series and recommends it less for road use than the BR, DS, ER or ZX. The delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks as long as the manufacturer has stock.
