Rear strut brace BMW E60

This E60 rear strut brace for the BMW E60 and E61 connects the two rear strut mounts and so makes the rear end stiffer. It is made for the 5 Series of this generation, as a saloon and as a Touring, and is intended to improve handling and safety. The rear end stays calmer in fast corners and during sudden steering movements.

The E60 is a heavy, powerful rear-wheel-drive car. If you lower it on coilovers, fit stance wheels or use it for drifting, you put a lot of stress on the rear mounting points. This brace gives extra support there and makes the rear end more predictable.

Installation and delivery

The brace is fitted with its round cups on the rear strut mounts. Clean the contact surfaces first, put the brace in place and screw the nuts on by hand. Then tighten them evenly in a few rounds with a torque wrench, with the car standing on its wheels. This way the brace sits free of stress.

Check after the first few hundred kilometres that everything is still tight. On a car that goes on track often, a quick check of the brace belongs in the regular check before every event.
